Radiation Center records, 1969-2000.

Series one consists of an annual report for 1969/70 for the Radiation Center and the Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering and annual reports for the Radiation Center and TRIGA Reactor for 1977/78 through 1999/2000 that were required to be submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Oregon Dept. of Energy. Proceedings are from a July 1975 conference in Portland on Magnitude and Deployment Schedule of Energy Resources.

Nuclear research and education began at OSU soon after World War II. In the 1950s, the first classes in nuclear physics and radiochemistry were taught, and in 1955 a cyclotron was constructed. A graduate program in nuclear engineering was established in 1959. In the early 1960s, a committe recommended that a research lab be established to house nuclear and radiation facilities.
